HACEP Kenya
About HACEP Kenya
HACEP Kenya was established with a deep commitment to transforming health outcomes and fostering sustainable community development across Kenya. As a National NGO, we recognized the urgent need to address the high prevalence of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) in the Lake Region and launched our mission to empower communities through innovative programs, advocacy, and strategic partnerships.
Our work began with a focus on disease prevention, maternal and child health particularly SCD screening and the empowerment of vulnerable populations, including women working in artisanal mining. Over time, HACEP Kenya has grown to become a trusted leader in community health interventions, combining evidence-based strategies with grassroots engagement to create lasting impact.
Rooted in the Lake Region, we prioritize safer working conditions, occupational health, and economic resilience through community-led solutions. Our approach emphasizes collaboration with local governments, health facilities, and community leaders to ensure programs are responsive, effective, and sustainable.
Today, our flagship project, Elimination of Sickle Cell Disease through Newborn Screening, targets Migori, Homa Bay, and Kisumu Counties. The initiative aims to screen 72,000 newborns annually and provide indirect benefits to over 3 million people, improving early detection, treatment access, and long-term care for SCD patients.
Key focus areas include:
- Enhancing SCD screening, diagnosis, and treatment access
- Empowering communities through health education and awareness campaigns
- Building capacity for sustainable health solutions through training and partnerships
With offices in Nairobi and Migori, and regular quarterly supervision in collaboration with County Health Management Teams (CHMTs), HACEP Kenya remains dedicated to advancing community health and fostering resilient, empowered populations.
Join us in this transformative journey as we work toward a healthier, more equitable future for all Kenyans.
